Show Notes

In this episode, Kelly Brown joins the podcast to talk about God’s enduring goodness- regardless of what we can see, what we feel, or the depths of our suffering. We all have something sacred that Satan will touch in our lives, but during the storms we have to look for the faithful hand of God and hold tightly to truth. Satan can give us his best shot, but God’s goodness still reigns. This episode helps us evaluate and redirect our hearts back to truth as Kelly asks the question: “Where do you go when life hurts?”

About the Speaker:
Kelly Brown has been a committed disciple for over 45 years. She and her husband, Tom, were baptized while attending the University of Florida where Kelly received her BS in Mathematics. She married Tom in 1975 and then moved to Boulder, CO to begin a campus ministry at the University of Colorado that grew from 1 to over 250 students while the Browns served in Boulder. They have continued to help build dynamic campus ministries and churches in San Francisco, Boston, Los Angeles and now in Atlanta. One of Kelly’s greatest convictions is that the young women in our churches are the future and that mature sisters in Christ must continue to teach the younger so they can benefit from all that we have learned through the years. She is known for her youthful spirit and creativity and has two children and two grandchildren. Kelly and Tom currently serve the North River Church of Christ in Atlanta.

Episode Notes:

God is Good All of the Time

In the best of times and in the worst of times. His love and faithfulness is lasting its not fickle.

Psalm 23:6: “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Psalm 27: 13: “I remain confident of this that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

Question: Have you ever felt like nothing good could come out of the situation and then later on you see the blessings God wanted to give you all along?

No matter what we experience or feel: the enduring truth is the goodness of God was there all along.

When Satan touches something sacred to us that is the biggest challenge of all.

Question: What is sacred to you? Where does Satan try to hurt you the most?

There are times our view of God changes when we suffer and don’t see God’s goodness in the pain.

There are blessings in disguise in the midst of these storms. But we have to look for them. We have to look for the enduring goodness of God.

Ask yourself, when life hurts what do you do?

  1. Do you focus on the pain or on the blessings to come? -Rom 8:28 Promises that God works for the good in all things to those that love him and are called according to His purposes.

2. Do you pray more or less? -Psalm 69: 16

3. Do you continually surrender it to God or do you try to fix it? -Psalm 37
